One simply can't talk about some of the greatest shonen shows of all time without mentioning the massively popular series that was Naruto. From the get-go, it was clear that Naruto was one of the most interesting and innovative shonen titles around, and exploring the world of the ninja along with the titular cast was as enjoyable as can be.

Over time, Naruto evolved and so did its viewers, with the show's time skip being pretty much perfectly placed and coinciding with the growing fanbase as well. It goes without saying that Naruto is an absolute masterpiece, even with the massive number of justified problems people have with the Fourth Shinobi World War arc. Even after all its problems, one can't deny that Naruto definitely ended on a rather powerful note, with the following ten characters being some of the strongest contenders in the series.

10 Hashirama Senju

Hashirama Senju First Hokage

It would be impossible to talk about powerful figures in the world of Naruto without mentioning the first Hokage himself. A practitioner of the original Wood Style jutsu, it's easy to see why Hashirama is considered by many to be one of the strongest characters in Naruto.

His legacy is the stuff of legend, with most people referencing his battles with Madara Uchiha when it comes to showcasing why he's such a powerful and revered figure in the world of the shinobi.

9 Madara Uchiha

There's no way that people can talk about Hashirama and not mention his greatest rival, who is easily one of the most infamous figures in the world of Naruto.

Madara Uchiha is a living legend, even though he might've tarnished his legacy with his heinous acts. That being said, no one could deny the fact that he was one of the most powerful shinobi of all time, and one need only look at his presence throughout the entire Fourth Shinobi World War arc to understand why this was the case.

8 Itachi Uchiha

Itachi Uchiha Akatsuki

Speaking of the Uchihas, it must be said that this clan has given rise to some of the most powerful fighters in the entirety of Naruto. So, it goes without saying that this clan will be making several appearances on this list indeed.

Itachi Uchiha is an obvious candidate in this regard, being one of the best characters in the entire show and one of the most powerful as well. The fact that he managed to break himself free of Edo Tensei and whipped out the Izanami technique, later on, is a great example to illustrate how boundless Itachi's power really was.

7 Obito Uchiha

The fact that the main antagonist of the entire series happened to be Kakashi's childhood friend was a reveal that was well-constructed... although one can argue that the instances following this reveal diminished Obito's character somewhat.

That being said, one can't deny that Obito's power was virtually limitless. His Kamui is the stuff of legends, and his transformation into the Ten-Tails Jinchuuriki made him even more of a threat. If it wasn't for Naruto's powerful words of action, Obito could've easily won the Fourth Shinobi World War single-handedly.

6 Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki

It would be remiss to talk about the most powerful figures in the universe of Naruto and not mention the members of the legendary Ōtsutsuki clan, which harbored a truly legendary figure in the form of the Sage of the Six Paths.

Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki founded the various arts of ninjutsu and created the ninja world itself, which is the only statement that's required to explain why he's such a legendary figure. He also came to Naruto and Sasuke during their hour of need and gifted them an immense level of power, allowing them to also reach new heights of power.

5 Kaguya Ōtsutsuki

Another member of the Ōtsutsuki clan who is universally hated by the fanbase is Kaguya, the person who became the first wielder of Chakra and was also the mother of the Sage of the Six Paths as well.

While fans don't appreciate the fact that she comes out of nowhere to be the final antagonist of the Fourth Shinobi World War arc, her power must still be acknowledged regardless.

4 Minato Namikaze

It was only a matter of time before Konoha's Yellow Flash would make an appearance on this list. The father of the series' protagonist was a mystery for the longest time, and it's only a given that Naruto's father would be none other than the Fourth Hokage himself.

Anyone who's seen the series can understand as to why the Fourth Hokage bags a spot on this list — his speed, power, and skills are truly unmatched, and only the most powerful shinobi could even stand a chance against him in a one-on-one battle.

3 Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake Hokage

Minato Namizake was also a great mentor to a team of three, two of whom have a spot on this list as well. The son of the White Wolf might've not exactly had the best childhood, but there's no denying the fact that these trials and tribulations helped him focus solely on his development as a ninja, which definitely paid dividends.

The fact that he became the Hokage is proof enough of the fact that Kakashi is one of the most powerful shinobi of all time.

2 Sasuke Uchiha

The final member of the cursed Uchiha clan who makes this list is Sasuke, and it was only a matter of time before this person's name would come up on this list.

From mastering almost all the techniques of the Sharingan to being an expert when it comes to both Fire and Lightning Release techniques, there's no doubt in anyone's mind that Sasuke is one of the most powerful characters in the entire series. In fact, whatever minor doubts that people had about Sasuke's skills were instantly dispelled after he received a powerup from the Sage of the Six Paths himself.

1 Naruto Uzumaki

Of course, Sasuke isn't the only character who received this powerup — this honor was bestowed upon none other than Naruto Uzumaki himself.

The titular protagonist has seen massive levels of development — both physical and emotional — since the very start of the series, growing into a character with immense power, strong emotions, and ironclad values that would see him through every battle he ever took part in. His rivalry with Sasuke is the stuff of legends, and it eclipses in what is easily one of the greatest battles in the history of shonen.
